Margaret from Sentinus delivered a fantastic workshop all about 'Renewable Energy' this week. The children developed their STEM skills and explored wind energy, solar energy and hydropower energy, bringing our topic 'Energy' to life!

Safer Internet Day

Tuesday 8th February 2022 marked Safer Internet Day! In P5/6 we explored the concept of being 'anonymous' online. We learnt that being anonymous can help us keep personal information, such as our name and address, private online. We also learnt that being anonymous can allow people to make hurtful comments to others that they normally wouldn't say if they had to make the comment face-to-face. We designed masks that display a hurtful anonymous identity, and a kind face-to-face identity.

French - Months of the Year

P5/6 thoroughly enjoyed Mrs Cullen from Saintfield High School visiting to teach them French! In only three weeks, the boys & girls learnt how to say common greetings, their name and age, animal's names, the days of the week and months of the year. They also learnt how to share their feelings and how to count to 20. We are very thankful to Saintfield High School and Mrs Cullen for their partnership in delivering this excellent programme.

Friendship Week

As part of Friendship Week we celebrated our differences by wearing odd socks! We also wrote down acts of kindness that we aim to do at home and at school to be a good friend.

The Giant's Causeway

Local artist Brian Ballard kindly donated some signed prints to our classroom and shared advice with the boys and girls about painting landscapes in an abstract and creative way. We had a lot of fun painting the Giant's Causeway based on his advice.
